Meshuggah's Obzen
Is it just me, or is Mehuggah really lacking on this album? I mean, i was listening to Destroy, Erase, Improve for about a month before the CD came out. that in mind, i was thoroughly dissappointed with this album. The only tracks i can care for are "Combustion" and "Bleed". Tomas's stuff was okay, but other than that, the whole album kind of meandered about.

Re: Meshuggah's Obzen
You're spot on.

When i first got 'Nothing' I listened to it non-stop for ages, same with 'I' & 'Catch 33'. (Chaosphere didn't really float my boat to the same extent, but D.E.I & C.C are both welcome repeat listens)

I can't put my finger on why Obzen (bar Combustion & Bleed as you stated) seems a bit... well...flat.

All the elements seem to be there, but it's not equal to the sum of its parts for some reason.

It's not bad by any means, but it's just not up there with the classic Meshuggah albums of the past.

^ I know!

I can't even listen to the some of the songs all the way through! To be honest, it sounds kind of rushed as well, like they just did it because Nuclear Blast said so or something.
