Flying (yes, I'm a pilot), surfing & golfing. I just moved to Spring Hill, Florida a few months ago and there is NO surf around here. Not that I expected any either. I feel like a fish out of water... my gills are drying up. I think a move back to Vero Beach might be in the very near future.

Other than drumming? drawing, making stuff on photoshop, a little bit of photography all kinds of visual art stuff like that, videogames and EATING DARK CHOCOLATE!!! I swear... I got addicted to that stuff not that long ago.

This is cool, it looks like there are lot's of other people on this forum interested in visual art too.

Re: hobbies?

music, in all its shapes and forms...i buy it, download it, listen to it, show it to others, absorb myself in it.

computers (i work as an IT consultant, so i'm constantly reading up on all the latest emerging technologies, and breakthroughs in existing platforms. I also build PCs, and do networking/repair)

gaming - anything from Soul Caliber 2 to Crash Bandicoot to Crysis or MechWarrior II.

my car - i try to keep it looking nice, and performing in a similar way, so i spend a fair amount of time washing, detailing, and performing maintenance on it..

art/graphic design/photoshop - i worked as a graphic designer for 2 years, and it sucked the creative juice out of me....i'm just now getting back to where i'm making things on my own, for fun..

I've been a hot air balloonist with a commercial license for 22 years, although I haven't been very active in it lately. Unfortunately, the F.A.A, the insurance industry as well as the attorneys have turned it into a rich boy's hobby.

Soul Calibur that's an extremely fun game, I think the 4th one is coming out soon for PS3 and the 360. Aparentley Yoda and Darth Vader are gonna be in it, and I think they might have dropped Xianghua and a few other characters... I don't think that will go over well...

By the way, those of you that are into martial arts, what kind of martial arts? Does anyone take up any Kenjutsu?

Re: hobbies?

Rock Climbing all the way.

It works out your forearms like no other exercise I have tried. It really helps your playing.

I play in a metal band and I never get tired and I can play all night long, no problem.

Plus its fun.

I dig distance running, I ran a marathon in 2003. Took some time off and am currently getting back into it. I load up my mp3 player with songs I like to play/learn and run away...

Unfortunately, I don't own a plane.. although I would love to. They are just to damn expensive. Also the annual inspections (mandatory) can run you over a few grand easily. Don't make me even mention the price of 100LL or Jet Fuel. I just rent a plane when I want to fly, and I usually fly because a few of my buds wanna take a trip or do some sightseeing.

I'm instrument and multi-engine rated. The aircraft that I like to fly are the Cessna 172 SP, Cessna 414, Piper Seminole and the Lear 45. I usually only fly the C-172 because they are easy to get when you want one and fuel is really expensive and you don't break the bank in a 172.. Every now and then I get a request to accompany a fellow pilot with a Lear Jet flight, and thats always fun.

Ya, I'm full of little surprises. Been around the block a few times. I started building aircraft for Piper a number of years ago, and through them I recieved my Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, Tail Dragger Certificate and eventually my Multi-engine rating. Then, I went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration as an inspector for Piper Aircraft becuase I was so familiar with them.

Amongst this I started my own painting business which is doing fairly well, but the construction trade is so bad right now that I went to work for a local FBO (Fixed Base Operator) working on aircraft. Aviation has always been in my blood.

Any other passions besides drums?

I myself like cars too. I have a 72 Z28 that i'm gonna restore from a hacked up race car. I also have a 91 mustang LX coupe show car that has been in 3 magazines and on TV twice plus it runs 10.40's in the quarter.

Re: Any other passions besides drums?

I love to cook. I make great Cajun and Creole food, gumbo, jambalaya, ettoufe, my shrimp creole is killer, I make a brilliant Texas chili with diced sirloin (no beans, that's not real chili) and I make my own barbeque sauce and I smoke ribs, briskets and chickens. I've been getting into Italian food lately and I got up a really good recipe for baked zitti with bolognese meat sauce. I've got several recipes I made up for soup; my creamed curry beef soup will take the chill off in sub-zero temperatures. I have yet to master fried chicken however. And I can't bake worth a damn.

Mmm that sounds nice, as for me I enjoy playing guitar. (sorry about my not very creative answer)

For me, its music and art in general, listening to music, looking and experienceing art, making and experimenting with both.

Re: Any other passions besides drums?

That's easy!

Playing golf, shooting pool, travelling by car(though that's been stifled a bit due to the $3.20 a gallon gas price...UGH!!), listening to music(of course), and going to concerts and PGA/LPGA golf tournaments!

OH, and I can't forget...

Hanging out with family and friends! This keeps me in check with my priorities! ;-)

Peace...

Re: Any other passions besides drums?

Hmmmm, Passions? LOL what is the character count for posts here?
  1. Skiing
  2. Rollercoasters (Amusement Parks in General)
  3. Photography
  4. Rollercoaster Tycoon and No Limits Coasters (games)
  5. My Mobile 24 track Digital Recording Company (Rocky Mountain Remote)
  6. Driving
I have many more interests but I would list the above as passions and the others as hobbies. Oh and combining them is also fun. Like, Driving to hit 6 major parks in 8 days to take pictures of coasters and ride them while doing recordings for a game that I am the Audio Designer for. Hmmmm the call of coasters is beating in my head again. HEHE!

These...."hobbies" you speak of. What are they? What is a "hobby" or this thing people call "free time"? Is that the same thing as "relaxing" - whatever that is.

J/K.

A few years ago, weights and body building. Still love to fish, hike, and camp. Just not much time these days. If I'm not working, I'm practicing or taking care of the family.
