New Classic Rock Cover Band Set List - Your Opinion Please

Hello,

Well, our band seems to be complete. Within the last 3 weeks my guitarist and I have found a bassist and a good singer.

Here is our initial set list.

The Wanton Song - Zep
The Rover - Zep
Rock and Roll - Zep
Iron Man - Sabbath
War Pigs - Sabbath
Gimme Three Steps - Skynyrd
Cat Scratch Fever - Nugent
Green Manalishi - Priest
Living After Midnight - Priest
Finding my Way - Rush
Tush - ZZ Top

What is your opinion of this set list?

We are in the process of purchasing a "Band PA". So we should have some decent sound clips within the next 6 to 8 weeks.

Sorry to harsh your mellow, but that music is really, really overplayed. If you're going to do covers, at least find some stuff that sounds fresher. Better to create your own stuff- there's an infinite number of great songs out there that no one has ever heard because no musicians have yet rendered them. I recall you're getting back into drumming so I guess these songs could work for getting experience playing and performing, but I always lean toward music that has not yet been heard.

Very cool list, if I were in the audience I would have a great time hearing that list performed as long as the songs were done well. As you expand your list add some Marshall Tucker and Grand Funk Railroad to your arsenal. Most importantly have a blast doing the gigs and whenever possible get a digital video of your performance, it helps a lot in fine tuning your act. Let's Rock & Roll!!!

The thing about cover tunes make sure they are tunes everybody knows no b-sides there is a lot of covers I don't. like to play live but everybody knows the tune and they dance to it so I have to be a drum whore once in awhile LOL.Mikei that is a cool set list just make sure your singer can sing the Zep stuff good.

Good Luck,
Bonzolead

Like Bonzo said.
This is the time to hit them on the head with what they know. You have to start there. And if it works out. Be more eclectic. Did I spell that ok.lol.. good luck.
