Eric McPherson

A really great player. I have Andrew Hill's "Timelines" and The Jason Lindner Big Band "Live at the Jazz Gallery," both highly recommended. Played with Jackie McLean too if Im not mistaken Anyone checked him out? Liked his stuff?

Check out Eric on any of the records with Abraham Burton. They usually share the leader role. Really great records.

Re: Eric McPherson

Eric was a classmate of mine in Hartford, CT. Jackie McLean was the head of our jazz department, and yes, Eric would frequently do gigs with him. At that time, we didn't know Eric would become "famous," but we certainly knew he was an amazing jazz drummer. He kept the rest of us students in a state of awe. At the time, there was another guy at the school on the same level. His name was Mike Szekely. To this day, I consider Mike one of the best drummers I've ever seen or heard. I have no idea what he's up to these days. He has never gotten the recognition that Eric has ended up getting. What's funny about both of these guys is that they were both incredibly nice people! Our school had plenty of musicians walking around with arrogant attitudes...but not these 2 guys. They were miles ahead of everyone else, but they were as nice as can be!
