I was listening to Elton John's Rocket Man last night and was thinking Nigel has a very unique style. He was perfect for what Elton needed. you can always tell Nigel's groove.

Remember Hocus Pocus by Focus?

My band did some recording in Web 4 studios here in Atlanta. Nigel did some recording there and left his hihat stand. The studio engineer said I could have it. Good old Slingerland... it's got vibes all over it.

Cool! I remember seeing him with Sir Elton in a Central Park concert many many years ago and , yes, he fit the music like a glove. For me he was Rock n' Roll's version of Steve Gadd

Re: Nigel Olsson

It's great to see Nigel getting some recognition. I grew up in the seventies and I remember all of my siblings (who are older then me) all really getting in to Elton John at the same time. So needless to say throughout my house I would always hear Elton's music being played. I remember when I first started playing drums I would listen to Nigel playing and I always liked his drum sound. As I got more into drums, I really started listening to what he was playing and I have always felt that he has a great feel for music. His fills were always very musical and didn't take away from the music. He is one of my favorites!

My first drumming influence in the 70's. Loved the way he played ballads
("Someone Saved My Life Tonight" is a great example.) Great feel and a
great background singer.

It's nice to see him back playing live with EJ in recent years.
