Marcus Baylor

Either my abilities to use Search are weak or there is really no mention of Marcus Baylor in the Drummers section of this DW forum! Hard to believe. Anyways, there must be plenty of fans out there. I've seen him mentioned in other Threads at least & he does have a page on the main DW site:

I really dig Marcus. Having been a long time Yellowjackets fan I was a little apprehensive when Will Kennedy was replaced (since I dug him big time also). However, after listening closely to Marcus, I've become a big fan. He has quite some extraordinary phrasing and independence that is subtle. I'd recommend Time Squared for starters. Time Squared, Sea Folk, V are all cuts with some examples of subtle independence/phrasing & complex time signatures.

Berhard just posted a track from "25" which is nice. Check it out. I'd like to hear some other commentary on Marcus. Yellowjackets are on tour now. In Boston next weekend!

I personally think he's great.. he's got great taste and great sound, and his solos are really good...
Will Kennedy's really good too, they're both great.. and the Yellowjackets are amazing no matter the drummer..
