Remo ebony emperor or clear emperor?
What are the sound differences between the Remo Ebony Emperor and just the regular clear emperor?

The weight of the top ply is heavier. Clear Emp is two 7mil plies, Vintage Emp is two 7.5 mil, Ebony Emp is 7.5 mil black ply over 7 mil clear. My guess is that it will be right in between clear and vintage. I don't know if the dye in the mylar affects the sound.

besides the mil of the heads, the ebony batter heads will transfer the black to your sticks then to your cymbals.

this happen to me using ebony pinstripes, but i assume the process would be the same for all ebonys. it was really hard to clean the black off the cymbals. now i only use them as reso heads.
