Loose DW Delta Hinge
Hey all

So I've recently noticed a problem with my 5000 single pedal. The nuts that reside in the middle of the delta hinge (see pic) keep backing off and hence result in some sidewards play in the hinge and hence the foot board. It's very easy just to tighten these back up however they seem to continually come undone. Anyone experienced this before? Is it a sign that the hinge is starting to wear out and needs to be replaced? The pedal is only just over a year old and I'm not particularly hard on it.

Re: Loose DW Delta Hinge
Looseness=breakage. So what I do with my DW pedals is this- I always replace the screws with Stainless steel socket head cap screws and use a bit of Locktite Green to tighten up the threads. (Blue is the mid-strength and red is the nightmare kind, you'll need a torch to free it)

Sounds like you need to just tighten those up and put on the Loc-tite.

Re: Loose DW Delta Hinge
Great thanks
Is it ok to apply locktite to the bearing part of the hinge though? Won't that causes the bearings to seize up??

Re: Loose DW Delta Hinge
Just to be clear it's the nuts at the axle part of the hinge that keep coming undone

Re: Loose DW Delta Hinge
Be sparing with the Loctite and keep it away from the bearings. I would apply a small dab to the inside of the nut just to keep it in that area, instead of applying it to the bolt itself.

I just tend to check them every now and again as a part of regular maintenance, and tighten them as needed.
