TAMA 5Bs Traditional Series.

So I just bought a pair of these from the local music store (those are the only sticks available). Are they any good if you hit hard? If no, what should I choose as a replacement

I haven't heard much about Tama's sticks, but Dirk Verbeuren and Mario Duplantier both use them, so I can assume that they are quality. They should last as long as any regular stick played with good technique.

As far as other sticks around that size (.590 diameter) there's the Vater Fatback 3A, Derek Roddy signature, and West Side. I'm only really familiar with their catalog so I can't tell you much about the other guys, but rest assured, they have them.
