Stick coatings/Dropping sticks

I use a number of different brands of sticks, all of the big 3, but I have come to notice that when I play with my pro-mark SD9s I tend to drop more sticks, these are regular sticks, with a coating, and I was wondering if anyone else has the same problem?

i would assume that the formulation of the varnish/coating on the pro-marks differs to that on Vaters and Vic Firths?

Interesting, just looked at the VF website, is this on top of the finish, or instead of?

Thanks

Just a thought is all but maybe you're not focusing enough. I tend to only drop sticks when I lose focus or if I bump into a drum when going around the kit. If it's because you sweat a lot try using gloves. Drumming gloves, batting gloves etc. Something thin enough so you can feel the stick. or maybe take some fine grain sanding paper and rough up the end of your sticks. Or focus more on readjusting your grip as the sticks get closer to coming out of your hands. :)

As for those dipped sticks. No thanks. I used the ones from Zildjian, the yellow dip and brown sticks. They wore holes into my hands quicker than acid poured onto them. May work for you but keep them away from me lol!

Oddtime, you could be right, it may be I'm holding them too loosely/not focusing, but I have been trying to relax my grip a little so I don't feel so tensed up. I think I''ll try the sandpaper idea on one pair and compare results.

Thanks

You may also want to try the "Natural" or "Nude" sticks............I used them for a while and they also seemed to work
