Shameless attempt to sponge money for Charity...
Please, PLEASE, let me apologise in advance, if this post is something that is strictly against forum or website rules, etiquette, whatever.
Basically the band I'm in, MLC, had an idea a few weeks back to organise and stage a charity unsigned bands festival at a small, but very well respected, live music venue on the outskirts of Manchester called The Witchwood in Ashton under Lyne.
Our bass guitarist is ex-military, and lost a close friend in Afghanistan, so we opted to support the charity Help For Heroes (http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk, a charity who provide support for injured servicemen and women over here in the UK.
So, we put this plan into very unmilitary-like operation, and by some miracle of organisation, we've finally got things firmed up, and off the ground.
The event will occur on July 27th, and is now up and advertised on the venue website:
Tickets are for sale here:
If anyone who lives anywhere local to us were able to come along, then I would be delighted, so much so that I would buy you a pint...and it'll be a nice pint because The Witchwood is also a real ale venue.
However, I'd be absolutely humbled if anyone on this website (or indeed anyone at all) would be willing to dip their hands in their pockets and donate/sponsor us with a small amount of spare change. Every single penny/cent will be appreciated and valued by the charity, and by all six bands taking part. We are all giving up our time and efforts freely for no financial gain whatsoever, for the purpose of supporting our soldiers who protect our rights to the normal day to day activities we take for granted, such as mindlessly thrashing out punk rock music, sometimes competently, sometimes cacophanously badly :-)
The donation/sponsorship website is:
This is a direct to charity donation page, owned by the charity themselves. All ticket moneys raised will also be going to this charity. The venue are allowing us to stage the event for free and taking on board any costs incurred out of money made on ale sales.
Again, thanks to anyone who can donate/sponsor us and this event and indeed to anyone who can turn up to the event (unlikely I appreciate !)
If anyone has any questions, or any suggestions on what we need to be aware of, experiences to share which might help us out, whatever, then please...we have never done ANYTHING like this before and we are all ears with a totally open mind.
