Advice on becoming a session musician

A session musician is essentially my dream job in life, as music and drumming has always been my main skill. I decided recently that a session musician appeals to me more than any job in the world, and I believe I can commit to it totally. The only problem I have no idea how to get into the trade.

Are there any session musicians out there that can give me a bit of advice on getting into it? I have the feeling you need extremely good grades for it, which I'm not worried about, but it's getting into the trade that worries me.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks

It's hard to get into. You need recordings for your resume. Your first couple recordings may have to be done for free to build your portfolio. The pay range for session drummers is anywhere from a slice a pizza to $1000 per track.

Practice with a click track.

There's a ton of threads on this mate. Do a search on "Playing Sessions".

They were all pulled up in about a minute. If you're serious you'll be able to find a hell of a lot more here.

I always knew it was going to hard ahaha, but if that's what it takes, I'll do it!

Thank you for the advice!

Yeah, I heard it was drying up a bit in general, due to most people using computers to play their beats these days. That doesn't mean I won't try though.

All about where you live and if you'll relocate to where the work is and network network network....
