Pearl D900 throne sinking

Hey everyone,

I'm a brand new drummer, and I picked up a Pearl D900 throne for my newbie seating comfort. The problem is, I can't get it to stay up. I'm a biggish guy, not huge...like 215 pounds, but no matter how tight I lock it down as soon as I sit on it and move at all, it slides down.

I've got it set up like the picture here (http://www.pearldrum.com/Products/Hardware/Drum-Thrones/D-900.aspx) with the big wing nut tightened and then the collar overtop of it tightened. I tightened them both absolutely as hard as I could, but it's not helping. Am I doing something wrong, am I just too heavy for it, or is there something wrong with my throne?

I'm pretty sure the inside of the memory lock (collar) is chrome plated, PEARL does that and their chrome plating is slippery.

Chrome on chrome is not a good hold. I would suggest buffing up the inside of the memory lock and not the tube itself. Also lube all the threads you're tightening real well.

The thrones with the smooth tube were always a pain.

BEFORE you do anything like scuffing up the tube or memory lock (in case you can take it back--or to sell it), I'd try another memory lock on top of the other one.

It might not be pretty, but it should stop it from sinking.

If nothing works, & you have to get a different throne, I have this one:

I love it. Very sturdy, comfortable, and it doesn't weigh a ton to lug it around.
The swivel adjustment type seats (any brand) will NOT slide down on you.

Good luck!

Well if it's an issue I'd rather send it back and get a better throne than buy another memory lock just to get it to stay up. I didn't want to spend over $100 though, does anyone know of a good swivel-adjust throne that's under 100?
