Iron Cobra Double Bass conversion

I'm looking at buying a used Iron Cobra DB pedal and it is a right footed pedal and Im wondering if you can take it apart and convert it to a left footed pedal? Can anybody confirm this?

I checked the Tama website and their FAQ said that it can't be done but I have been told by some people that you can do it. Does anybody have any experience with this?

Just looked at the IC here and it seems to me if you reversed the center bar on the main 'housing' on both pedals that holds the beater it should be do-able. Can not see any real obstacles in reversing the pedals for lefties (though i could always be wrong, yet tend to be good at mechanical engineering).
