Condenser Mics

Got the Beta 52 for the bass and SM57's for the snare/toms. Now I need overhead mics.

What would you recommend in the $300-$500 range for a pair?

If you're buying new, I would get some AKG C1000s. If you're buying used, look for some Rode large-diaphragm condensers (NT1000, NT1). I have a pair of NT1000 mics, and I've tried them side-by-side with an AKG C414 pair, and they sound VERY similar. Can't go wrong with Rode, in my opinion...

Studio Projects C4. $350 new for a matched pair all over the internet. I have used them for years as overheads both live and for recording, and I would put them up against any of the more expensive German mics.
