BEST REMO HEAD FOR A BRASS FREE FLOATER

HEY GUYS AND GALS. I JUST RECENTLY AQUIRED A 6.5X14 PEARL BRASS FREE FLOATER SNARE IN INCREDIBLE CONDITION. ITS PROBABLY 5-7 YEARS OLD BECAUSE IT HAS THE OLDER PEARL LABEL ON IT. ANYWAYS, IT CAME WITH A SINGLE LPY COATED AQUARIAN HEAD. I AM THINKING THAT TO HELP FATTEN OUT THE SOUND, A NICE DOUBLE PLY HEAD LIKE A COATED EMPEROR OR EMPEROR X WOULD DO THE TRICK. YOUR THOUGHTS?

There's a caps lock key on the left side of your keyboard.

Press it.

hey there....
For my $ and on any snare I own, I love Remo Coated Ambassador.
I use tuning/de-tuning or technique (where/how) I hit the drum to get the 'fatness" if needed..
btw - I know I'm far from the only one who feels that way....best of luck. ;)

thanks for all the suggestions. i ended up finding an older vintage emporer that had the plies coming apart. but when i tried it out at a nice mid tension with just the slightest crack, it works perfect while still taking care of a lot of the ring.

I have the same snare and use a coated Ambassador all the time. just tune it a little looser than you normally would as that snare is real bright
