Setting Up Video/Audio for Online Lessons

Hi all,

I've been teaching privately for a number of years and I thought it was about time I set up a Youtube Channel and joined the new generation of online drummers, however I am a complete noob when it comes to gear, I wouldn't know where to start!

Can anyone help with any suggestions on how I could go about setting this up? For example, does anyone just use a video camera with a decent microphone? Or does everyone do video and drum audio separate nowadays?

Also, what equipment do you use and is it possible to do this on a tight(ish) budget?

All thoughts welcome.

Thanks,

Andy Sutor.

Check out the Zoom Q3HD camera (or the Q2 on an even lighter budget), it has full 1080p video and tremendous audio for the price. I have one myself and I use it all the time (if you get one, consider ordering the AC power supply, it eats batteries pretty quickly). If you have more money than that, the options really start to open up. It even comes with software that will let you edit the videos and then upload them to YouTube.
