Need a thumpy bass head

I just got a cocktail drum kit, and now I need a thick good drum head. One that sounds thumpy and such. Thanks, -Adam

Assuming this is one of the stand-up cocktail kits, you've likely got a 16" drum for the kick. I'd recommend using an EC2S on the beater side. A coated white G Plus or G1 would work well on the top.

Cheers!

For smaller bass drums (16" and 18") I've had good results using a wide-open Remo clear Pinstripe. It'll tune down well too. Let it ring a little because the diameter is so small you won't hear the ring five feet out and beyond.

I put my practice pad on top of the cocktail drum (since I dont use the top head, its under the snare drum) and it makes it sound much better... Although I dont want to carry it around. If i put something inside the drum would it do the same effect?
