Trouble with tuning the snare....Help please
How do you tune the snare drum to get this sound??

Also, I like this snare sound as well. How would you tune the snare to sound like this?

Hey man,
Before I suggest anything you need to bare in mind that these clips are from live shows. They have extremely good engineers behind a desk making there kits sound fat! I've done a lot of work with people like that and they can make a crap kit sound amazing!

First of what snare have you got? Also what is the depth, width, of the snare? Also the skins that you are using also have a large effect on the sound.

If all of those things match the snare in the vid then I suggest that you tighten the underneath skin first so it's nice and tight then adjust the head until you get a close sound. Don't forget the snares underneath either!! Adjust them till you get a nice sound too. It's all trial and era I'm afraid.

Hope that helps.

I have a Pearl Sensitone Bronze snare. I have ambassador on top, and a ambassador snare side on bottom.

Thanks for the help.

Just crank the top head nice and tight.
make the bottom head medium tight.
Both of those guys on the utube clips probably have the drums tuned that way but the second guy has his snare wires a little loose.
