What videos, new or old have been inspiring you lately?

I have been absolutely hooked-on/mesmerized by this Clyde Stubblefield video lately. So much that I have taken the toms off of my kit and have been playing songs all the way through with as few fills as possible. Focusing in precision and time has been a game changer for me lately. And it's all thanks to this video:

If you can't play a groove like that for 5 minutes straight, I think it's time to reconsider your game

What about you?

"If I can hum it I can play it". That's something that comes with years of practice. Over the years I have seen this develop with my own playing.

Great video. Thanks for sharing.

Maybe not the answer you're wanting to hear but I'm so tired of watching other drummers that when I try to watch things I don't seem to focus on them much anymore. It's like I finally realize that watching 1,000 videos doesn't make you an awesome drummer, working on a few different concepts and practicing does. So it's probably better if you watch fewer videos but apply what you learn wholly.

All the usual suspects on YouTube are bombarding me with new videos and I have so many available that I take them all for granted. When I was a teenager I had Chad smith, Dennis chambers and Akira Jimbo videos and I wore the tapes out watching them.

Hope this doesn't sound arrogant but lots of things that I watch now, I feel like I've seen it all before, or I can already do it, or I can see that it's impractical or stupid and I just don't care. Or I'm bothered that I laboured to figure something out and there's someone making an instructional about it. So it's like I have all the info I could need, now I have to choose what to work on and apply it.

Anyway that was my rant. I was actually at this show and it's the last thing that I remember making my jaw drop for some time.

I have the DVD that clip was pulled from, "Soul of the Funky Drummers." I play it for inspiration now and then.
