Hi All,

Hope I'm not asking a dumb question, but can anyone tell me what time signature thats used in the verses of the following song?

If it's in 4, I can't feel it and I'll be buggered if I can figure it out. Or maybe I'm just over complicating things......

It's all in 4/4. In (what I would call) the bridge the drummer is displacing the second backbeat to the 'and' of four, but the time remains the same. In the verse parts where he plays the quarter note rim clicks, the kick drum is locking in to the piano riff; keep in mind the piano riffs starts on the 'and' of 1 of the bar.

This kind of thing is a great test for your counting. Keep working on getting your out-loud counting to hold steady over the music, not easy with offbeat patterns like this. Great tune.

The intro part was indeed a bit confusing, but the rim clicks hit every quarter note. The piano riff and vocals have a weird offbeat feel to them, but it's all in 4/4

Agreed, all in 4/4 with a strange feel. OP, try tapping your foot or clicking sticks along to the song. If you can do this, start counting and you'll realise you can count 1 2 3 4 and keep in time.

The accents are mostly upbeats, which creates a nice tension against the downbeat-accents of the vocals :

O X O X O X X O
