Another day, another groove! I implied a 3/2 clave in 6/8 over your standard backbeat in 4/4 for this morning's wake n break session. As always, I hope some of you enjoy it and have fun making it your own!

Good afternoon, folks! This morning's wake 'n break session ended on a completely different note than it started on. That's been part of the fun of doing these wake 'n breaks. As always, enjoy and have fun making it your own!

Top of the mornin' to ya! :) For this morning's session, I had fun interpreting Hal Blaine's famous drum part from "Be My Baby", turning it into a trashier boom bap groove. As always, I hope some of you dig it!

Top of the morn...errr...afternoon to you! :p For this morning's wake n break session, I had fun coming up with what I call a one drop shuffle. When I say "one drop", I'm referring to the single bass drum note that is placed in each measure. The term originally comes from Jamaica. I dribbled my snare with ghost notes over it.

Top of the mornin' to ya, DW! I tried to incorporate a stick rub into this morning's groove. I definitely wanted the rub effect to be more pronounced, but I'm happy with the idea. I'll get it to where I want it soon enough. Have a great Sunday folks! :)

Top of the morning to you! :p I busted out a groove utilizing my Crash Course cymbal stack during this morning's wake 'n break session. As always, I hope you enjoy it and have fun making it your own. I would love to see what you come up with!

This morning's wake n break was a challenging one for me. I tried to put a backbeat over a guaguanco while playing what I call a broken cascara (one or two less notes than the traditional) on the shell of my floor tom. I definitely want to clean it up more, but it's a start!

Good afternoon, DW! During today's wake 'n break session, I broke out my Pete Engelhart Blossom Bells to get a bit of a gamelan-esque sound, similar to a traditional bonang barung. As always, I hope some of you dig it! :)

Okay folks, doctor's orders. Take two exhaust pipes and call me in the morning! :) The exhaust pipes are back for round two, only this time they're being used in a similar manner to a guiro. Hope you dig it!

Here's this morning's wake 'n break session. I came up with a simple but fun groove in 4/4. As usual with this series, the groove is trashy and dirty, but it can be tightened up for those looking for a cleaner sound. Hope you enjoy and have a great weekend!

After a long and crappy night of staying up with my injured beagle, I finally managed to wake up and record this little ditty for this morning's wake 'n break. It's a little cuica (literally) action over a simple "boom chick" ostinato on the feet. Enjoy your Sunday! :)

Ahoy hoy! :) This morning marks the 50th installment in the Wake 'N Break series. This one is a four bar phrase in 6/4 (at least that's how I am hearing it). As always, enjoy and feel free to have fun making it your own!

Top of the mornin' to you! ;) For today's wake 'n break session, I broke out a set of ogene (African bells) and created a triple bell groove (four if you count the bell of the ride). As always, I hope some of you enjoy it and have fun making it your own!

It figures that the one day I actually wake up in NPT (Normal People's Time), there is a blackout preventing me from recording. Well, the power finally came back and I got to cooking. Today's session was inspired by one of my favorite drummers, Zigaboo Modeliste of The Meters. I hope you enjoy this one because it's slinky and dirty, just like I like it!

The weekend is here once again. To kick my Saturday off on the right foot, I recorded this little ditty. It's a 4/4 groove with 16th note triplets being broken up between the hi-hat and snare. I hope you dig it and as always, have fun making it your own!

It may be afternoon, but here's the groove from my wake 'n break session earlier this morning. It's a half-time backbeat over the Brazilian baio ostinato with opening high-hats on the downbeats. As always, if you dig it, please share it! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
