In music, there's definitely a pre Beatles and a post Beatles period, you hear it all over the world, thanks to the Beatles :)

I was a teen when I watched them on Ed Sullivan. So much going on in those days....consider the albums Miles was putting out during the same years.

The Julliard School of music in NYC,also has several courses dealing with the music of the Beatles,focusing on harmonies,song structure and they're use of different tempos,and arrangements.

Actually when I really think about it, I was always kind of neutral on my liking of The Beatles.
I didn't not like them though. I watched them when they came over to the USA and I didn't really see what the big deal was.
I was more into Blood Sweat and Tears, Chicago Transit Authority, CSNY, etc
