Tennis overgrips - excellent for drumsticks?

I am trying these now. I use the overgrips because they are thinner than standard tennis grips.

While they are thicker than dip (which is a hassle and not available stock with the sticks I like) and the easily worn drum stick wraps the grip appears to last much longer and doesn't lose it's tackiness. (Given they are thicker I bet they can be cleaned). And there is an added benefit of absorbing shock. Tie this in with clear nail polish on the tips and i think sticks can last a good while.

Here is an example of a tennis overgrip

(Keep in mind you can wrap these tight and cut down on the thickness and gap between layers compared to a tennis raquet)
