Running backing tracks from an iPad

Hi guys,

I guess this has been covered but I'm not having much joy off the net.

I need to run backing tracks, I currently have a Roland SPD-SX but I think it's overkill for what I need.

I have heard several drummers running an Ipad..........I need to split the stereo channel, the left is hard panned for the click, and the right is hard panned to the right for the backing track itself. Which will run to the Desk and go out to front of House Stereo.

I shall be running this into my in ear monitor Shure PSM200 system

My question how are people splitting this from a headphone socket?

Get an 1/8" to RCA split cable and use RCA to 1/4" adapters. Left side will go into what monitoring device you use. Right side goes into a direct box which will go the FOH sound from the XLR out. You can opt to run the right side into your monitor if your system allows for the input.
