Oh no! That is so sad. What a Great and underrated player

I remember his album Pulse. That got me interested in him because it was so intense and drum oriented. But he had such a rich, creative and dynamic range; it wasn't all about power. His brush work was so discrete.

In the late 80's, I got to see him with the Decoding Society. When he played, his eyes kind of rolled back in his head like he was possessed, though it wasn't an act. But offstage, he was just a down to earth gentleman, very appreciative of my interest, signing albums. One of which I salvaged from my record collection that got destroyed in a flood of water and used motorcycle oil.

Rest in Peace, Ronald Shannon.
