Removing a leg from a hi hat stand

I've got a Pearl 900 Series hi hat stand that I'm turning into a two-leg; I've already converted the bottom from the two metal bars to a solid baseplate, but I'm wondering... do I have to cut the legs off? Or is there a way of removing the two rivets that are holding on the third leg?

I had a 3 leg DW 9000 hi hat stand. I drilled the rivets out and the leg came right off. Use a bit that's slightly smaller than the rivet and drill right through the middle.

This one.

By drilling, you still preserve the spare leg which you can then buy a couple of screws and nuts for and convert it back into a three leg stand in the future. I'm considering doing this myself. Don't cut the legs off.

It is somewhat critical the two legs are forward.

Unless your PEARL legs swivel, you're going to be unsupported.
