I prefer Hamilton's. That's a pretty inspired piece, thanks for sharing it!

I did like how Smith paid homage to Blakey with some elements of his solo.

Hey didn't know that. I guess Steve REALLY likes to copy people. It is all over his playing.

It's hard to be fair because one can appreciate JH's sounds and tones whereas the recording of SS isn't good. I couldn't enjoys SS's due to the sound.

While SS's is closer to Art's frenetic original version, I thought the dynamics of JH's version, plus his varied tones and his musical phrasing were superb.

Jeff Hamilton's playing is very very tasty to me.

SS is great, but his playing always seems kind of academical to me.
Kind of like instead of really digging into the music, he often plays
"pedagogicly meaningful" parts, if that makes any sense.

A bit over the top sometimes, but quite good.
