Over exuberance - a time & a place?

My issue is that I don't want my lack of skills to distract from attention to the drum's sound. I'm still thinking that through. The last time I put up a demo with me playing, it attracted the usual range of harsh anonymous internet comments. The comments don't bother me personally, but the distraction element does.
Plenty of skills, certainly enough to demo drums.

Just state its all about the drums. This thread specifically put the light on what you're doing.

I'm not really understanding this Les. It's somewhat divorced from my ability to put together an informative drums demo. There's no way I'd hack through this kind of stuff in that context. I'm still thinking the demo thing through.

I almost always do a hand cross-over bass drum triplet roll around the kit ending to "Born to be Wild". We usually do that song to end the night, so I have nothing to lose at that point...

It would be wholly inappropriate for any time prior to that in the gig however..
