I have a Sonor Hilite Exclusive kit (all copper plated hardware) that Ive been "keeping safe"
in storage for 10+ years in cases. Upon re-opening the bass drum case I discovered that the case foam and the glue holding the foam to the case wall have become one, and coated the entire drum and hardware in a crumb-foam-gummy-glue scum. Ruined! I have no idea where to begin in restoring this. I'm afraid that overly abrasive cleaners and techniques will strip the copper plating. Any advice from vintage-kit restorers out there would be appreciated.
