Hey guys!

Does anybody have any experience with recording using a Ludwig Vistalite Kit?

How do they sound recorded?

Cheers!

I've always found Vistalites to sound like the drums they resemble. Head selection has more to do with their sound than the actual shell material. When I used a Ludwig solid black vistalite kit with white coated heads top and bottom, everyone came up to me and told me they loved my woody tones. Go figure.

I used my Vistalite 14x24, 16x18, and 13/14/15/16" concert toms on a few tracks on Al's last album, and they sounded warm and punchy... kinda "meaty" if that makes sense. Bo is right, head selection really makes a difference on them. I used Evans EC2 SST batters on the toms, and I'm pretty sure there's a coated EMAD on the kick batter.

Do you remember which songs you used them on Bermuda?

Cheers!

I record with a vistalite often. They are very punchy, I dig it. PM-ed you a link to some tunes I used a vistalite+acrylic snare on, hope it helps.
