Just saw Birdman, would watch again for the drums by Antonio Sanchez!

Yes, I saw it last week. It was either the best or worst movie I've seen for a long time, or possibly both (on the one hand, an audacious, provocative and technically quite amazing piece of filmmaking; on the other, maybe as self-indulgent and pretentious as everything that it appears to be satirizing). But the drumming was certainly great.

Interestingly, in those moments where a drummer actually appears on-screen, because those parts were shot before the final score was recorded, Antonio Sanchez had to learn and mimic the parts played by the onscreen drummer (Nate Smith) so that he could play something that would match.
