Evans Looking Glass?

What are these all about? I read Neil Peart used them in the 70's? Are they even still in production? I'm an Aquarian guy but these have my interest.

No, they haven't made those heads in years. Back then, all Evans heads had flexible hoops. The head and hoop were sort of all one piece. I think the Looking Glass was 2 ply, but I'm not sure. They had a "chrome" appearance. Peart used them on the batter of all his double headed toms, with Blue Hydraulic on the bottom, and Remo Black Dots on the bass drums and snare, and Ludwig Silver Dots on the concert toms.

You could purchase Remo starfire chrome, it's Amassador weight and look the same.
It would look the same, but wouldn't sound the same. The old Evans heads really had something special going on. I wonder why they stopped making heads with those flexible hoops...
