Working on this big-style at the moment.

Other than Simon Phillips on Space Boogie, and Billy Cobham on Quadrant 4, can anybody recommend any other examples - audio or video - that are worth having a look at.

Van Halen's Hot for Teacher is an obvious one.

When Greg Bissonette was with Joe Satriani, he turned one of Joe's songs into a double bass shuffle. Satch Boogie I believe is the name of the song. The problem is finding the live version during Greg's tenure with the Joe.

Virgil Donati is one of the best in the world at double bass. He does a lot of work with shuffles or 12/8 which is similar. Check out his own albums, "Serious Young Insects" and "On The Virg" etc. Also his work with Planet X is a must.

Listen Billy Cobham/Mahavishnu Orchestra's "Quadrant Four"; I was told that it was the inspiration for "Hot for Teahcer" by Van Halen.
