Dick Clark has died at the age of 82. Long live American Bandstand

Clark is best known for hosting long-running television shows such as "American Bandstand," the game show "Pyramid" and "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve."

So sad. Thanks Grunter..boy, you must be on death watch today. Levon Helm's illness and now Dick Clark...we're all getting older too fast.

Seriously, both are superstars in my opinion. Will never forget John Cougar Mellencamp's appearance on American Bandstand. Was he a bad ass back then, or what.

Oh, man. I thought he would live forever. A torchbearer for the eternal youth has died and how sad is that!

RIP

I used to love it when he'd have bands come on American Band Stand and pretend to play their hit songs. Seriously, I did. I was a little kid.

It is sad. That show was one of my first exposures to "live" music. I also liked when Johnny Winter made "rate the record". Peace, goodwill, and blues.

I think to us old guys, that was our first experience to music where we could see the musicians and hear their music, plus see them interviewed. His show was from Philly, and right down the road in Baltimore we had a local show, The Buddy Deane show, and most of the acts would just slide down the highway from Philly. All great stuff and so much better than the trash that is on MTV currently. The world has changed but you could wind the clock backward on this show as far as I am concerned.

There are several pictures of me in the early sixties when I was four years old.
I am sitting on my rocking horse in front of the TV while watching American Bandstand.
Thank you for the fond memories Dick.
