Condensed mic in Zoom HQ3HD vs individual drum mics for simple cover video recording

I am planning on getting a basic setup to record drum covers. I don't need anything fancy, but I'd like the drum sound to be somewhat clear in the video.

I plan on using Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum to mix the audio. My intention is to use the Zoom HQ3HD to record video and the drums sound, and then use Sony Vegas to mix in the mp3 audio of the song being covered, sync it with the video, and adjust the volume of the drum sound (from the Zoom recording) and the mp3 track being covered.

Has anyone had experience with this? I don't want to spend the money on the Zoom camera if this setup won't allow for acceptable, decent audio.

The other route would be to set up individual mic on the drums, but I'd like to go with the simpler route of the Zoom HQ3 if I could.
