I took a 20 year break, and after about a year back I'm wondering how other drummers are holding their sticks. (playing palm down, not open)
I figured I'll ask this now, as I can still change habits during this re-learning period.
I have seen great drummers cradle their stick using the index finger. However, I have also seen drummers use the middle finger. I'm assuming this since I see the end of the index finger exposed, and pointing down after tremendous rolls.
Is there an advantage to either?
I'm working on my speed through my rudiments, while NOT DROPPING the sticks (Moeller this week).
thanks!
