hey drummerworld, get these ugly ads off of your site. Every time I come on here now I get some crap loading on here from these. I know you gotta pay your bills, but these types of ads are horrendous, and they do the same thing on whatever site they're on.

If you don't like seeing them, up your browser's ad-blocking profile. Or donate, as G-Daddy suggests.

Wow... really?

Just ignore them. Also if it's the Ad content that is bothering you, delete your cookies.

They tend to bring up whatever you search for, it seems. Try searching for something you want to see in the ads, lol!

There are two ways that sites make money:

1. Membership (either mandatory or optional)
2. Ads

If having to see a few ads on the site means that the site is making money, and I don't have to pay, I'm cool with it.

While I would take no countermeasure against drummer-world placing advertisements on their site, the adverts that I see DW attempting to display are coming from googlesyndication, which is rife with abuse. The domain is blacklisted via PF on both my home and work networks.

Examples of why users should block aggregators:

Ultimately, I would love to see DW serve advertisements from it's own domain, and for relevant products (drum related gear). Alternatively, they might forego advertising in favor of merchandising and commerce (selling sticks, heads, etc).

I'd also like to see Drummerworld enable https at some point, so that anyone with wire access can't grab our login information and read in-transit PMs.

Understand that I'm not really to passionate about all the above, or really complaining, as these are minuscule drops in a really big internet.

I think the question is overhead vs benefit. Serving your own ads means more work on your end, and less profit. Using Google syndication, or something similar, will just display ads to users based on their specific browsing history, you don't have any work to do, and the pay is higher. Which, back to the original post, if you are seeing disgusting ads, then you (or someone logged in as you) is looking at disgusting things on your PC.

Again if they start manufacturing their own products, you lose the guaranteed profit as you don't know who is oging to buy these items, or how often. Also, your overhead is going to go up and profit margin goes down.

Ads don't really bother me at all, and it makes me feel better when I know that I am helping the guys at drummerworld just by browsing this amazing forum.

What if I don't want to see a bunch of ads for Ashley Madison and Cialis!
Might wanna start deleting your browsing history. :)

Although I'll swear to my dying breath that I have never searched for "local hot Asian ladies in my area"......yet strangely enough, here they appear "willing and waiting for my call" apparently.

Better that than seeing "local hot asian ladyboys in my area" I suppose. Not that that's ever happened to me.... :p

+1 to AdBlock... I don't get ads any more. Ever. It even stops ads on YouTube. Best addition to Chrome by a longshot.

Adblocker works. It's become a crazy RAM hog, but it works.
There are a few different adblocks.. the one i use is just called ADBLOCK it has a stop sign with a hand it in.. it works awesome and takes no extra ram.. it's a addon for chrome and firefox.. i won't use IE or let my customers as the adblock for ie isn't as good and is a pig...
