Has anybody used a exercise ball called the dynaflex gyro ball? It's suppose to be a wrist & forearm strengthener and therapy for carpal tunnel. I'm wondering if it would help with a slight pain in my wrist that I'm feeling or actually hurt me more by tightening up my forearm.
ive seen and heard about it, suppose to be really good, it was mentioned in the old d-w forums

I would definitely not use it without a doctor's instruction if you think that you might have carpal tunnel syndrome. It's a great tool for strengthening muscles, but C.T.S. can be made worse by making the wrong motions.
Don't take chances with your health! Especially if it effects your drumming.

i've got the powerball. it is the real deal so be careful with other gyro balls. powertball holds the world record for being the fastest human powered machine on earth. it turns at 14 000 revs per minute and is used by top sportsmen and women espeacially golfers and tennis players. it is recommended by many health organisations for sports injuries. there are warnings about the other copy makes of this device ... that they vibrate and cause more harm than good. i agree with DB ... don't take a chance, get the more expensive but effective product.

I'll agree, just got one today! I'm surprised by the amount of pressure it builds up.
Jason - do you find there is a defined technique to using it? Took me about ten attempts to even get it going! Now I have, I find my speed and motion inconsistant. Any tips to getting the most outta it?

I would stay away from any repetetive motion with a hand that may have carpel syndrome sympoms. Trust me! I am now home from work for 10 weeks with 8 stiches in my hand after having the surgery 2 weeks ago. Now i'm not driving, working or drumming for a while. I would get a doctors advise if you have CTS.

i have just purchased a NSD power ball recently and in a week or so of training up my left arm i have have noticed i can keep fast beets going for longer without my right arm getting ahead or sounding louder. i strongly recomend thw NSD powerball to anyone who has one arm stronger than the other and can notice it while drumming. it is fun too
anyway check out this guy

Excellent, thanks very much for the info, Jason.
What model would you recommend? I'm looking at one of the cheaper ones.

I've had some pretty serious wrist & forearm pain, out of nowhere, for the past few days.
Thanks!
