I assembled this McKenzie Carbon Fibre shell to match my Masterworks kit. The CF is too cool looking to cover up totally, so I thought this was a good compromise. Most guys just leave the shells as is, but I always need to go one step beyond. Hardware is translucent blue over chrome powder coat.

Cant comment on sound yet, have not took it in the house to mess with tuning etc. One of the quirks of owning so many drums, never a big rush to play after building.

Wow! Crazy. I have played with a guitarist who plays a carbon fiber dreadnought acoustic guitar and it is loud as hell, yet warm and rich. Carbon fiber is a great material. How'd you get ahold of something this exotic?

The shell is made by Tim McKenzie, a builder on the drum builder forum I frequent, Ghostnote.com. Tim also sells the raw shells on ebay, mckenziedrums. They come with a gloss finish pre done. Just need to check the edges for smoothness, cut in a snare bed, drill and assemble.
