Yes I think around 3000$ is right. I always wonder that DW drums cost so much! but you know: DW is a great brand wich produces GREAT drums!! and this costs much money...

those are just the standard arms for DW coming off the one tom/one cymbal stand. Not complicated at all. Just flexible!

DW Hardware is Very Good stuff. Especially the pedals.I play nothing but DW Pedals. Myself, I don't like DW drums at all. The craftsmanship ain't all it's cracked up to be. Hey superbatmat, Let us know when you strip out your first lug or tension rod.

02-28-2006, 05:13 AM
so each of those cymbals cost you close to 1000 a piece? how does that work?
Stu_Strib
02-28-2006, 12:15 PM
The 22" K Constantinople lists for $600 or something crazy, but can be found for about $399 new on web sites. (They go for around $250-$350 on ebay).
The Erskine ride is considerably less. Maybe he's talking Canadian dollars or something?
By the way, I'd like to just mention that those are my next two cymbals exactly. I got my 20" K const. Now I just need that 22 for my main ride and the Erskine one for my rivet ride.
By the way, you said 22" K Constantinople Thin High ride...do you mean Medium Thin, as I don't see a Thin High line anywhere.

02-28-2006, 12:29 PM
I just love the natural finish on your drums! I like the concept of having only two cymbal stands to mount the two toms and the cymbals, but on your small-sized kit even this looks like awfully lot of hardware. For more traditional look I would have gotten a floor tom with legs.
How do you like those fiberskyn heads? Do they make the sound a lot drier? I am thinking of buying such heads for my set, but my drums are a bit dry to begin with.

so each of those cymbals cost you close to 1000 a piece? how does that work?
The first posibility...This guy is rich!
second: He had worked so hard for the money or...his grandma or grandpa just loves him ;) lol...but seriously: so yes it is small but expencive and I would bet that he is just so happy with it!!

There is a 22" thin high. I have one too, great wobbly cymbal , it was part of the elvin jones line. I use it in jazz situations, funk, and in a hard rock band, most versatile cymbal I ever owned. I also have a 20" thin, and a 22" medium. great cymbals. I want to get the gadd session hats too, they sound sweet.

First off let me say I LUV YOUR KIT! It's just screaming carress me, makes me want to go back to a 4 piece for a while. Way cool.
I have a 20" DW kick that I had a hard time getting to sound the way I thought it should. I put a Super Kick1 batter and reso head on it and I luv it now. I'm not sure how it would sound tuned up for a jazz setting though. Anyway this head was the cure for my kick.
Let me know what works for you, I'm curious what you find.

I'd like to say that this rig is merely "hot" but no, I think it goes well into "sexy drum" status. Look at that finish! Oh, if only I could have a few thousand lying around. Boy, DW might be in trouble! Kudos on your choices. I bet that thing stokes you to play every time you sit behind it.
cheers.

Beautiful kit. Love the finish. Are you still having kick drum problems? I run Powerstroke3 heads batter on all my kicks and on my 20x14 I have a Powerstroke3 ebony(reso). Kick is wide open with no port. I get a nice tight sound with that combination. For a little more resonance on my larger kicks I run Ambassador ebony (reso) with HOLZ ports.

That small drums / big cymbals combo is wild. I can't decide if it makes the cymbals look gigantic or the drums look tiny. Maybe a little bit of both.
Back when I was shopping for a kit, a DW 4-piece in this finish was tops on my wish list. So nice. But I ended up with something different.
Anyway, great kit.

I agree. For some reason, small kits look best with a natural finish. Maybe the simplicity of the layout and the simplicity of the finish complement each other and add up to a classy appearace.
