Thanks scorch. I'm so use to having them the same tuning. I'll give it a try. This is what I love about this forum.

oo pretty. i did fine adjust the kit, the pics were just when it was done being setup without being adjusted with me sitting down. and i say the screw badges becusae i didnt want the badges to peel up, like they are already doing :/
and also sound wise, i love the wood snare a lot more than the super loud steel one the blackhawk had. also, instead of a plastic snare tension thing, the tama has some fabric ones, which is nice. the kick drum also sounds MUCH better than the blackhawks kick drum, but even with a small pillow inside just touch the batter head, and tuned loosely, it resonates too much
thanks for everyone help, finally my kit is setup

You also might to try different tunings on those screws..top ones slightly tighter than the bottom two...just a little helpful advice!...;)
Yes but you will need a torque gauge for that specific make and model of screw.PDP makes a very affordable one at 9.99...but unfortunately Tama's screws are slightly more dynamic, and will require their 299.99 model SBP.(screw badges properly)

Can you guys please measure your badge screws with a torque wrench and post up the results? I'm having a really hard time getting a good even tone from my 13" tom and it is driving me insane.

Haha, we both thought of the torque joke at the exact same time but you beat me to it. Oh well.

bmeat: I'm suprised that there was ever a question about which kit to get - that Imperialstar is beautiful. Lovely finish, elegant lugs and the chrome offsets the sheen/sparkle in the finish of the drums. You DEFINITELY made the right choice - Bravo.
I second on the bringing the left tom in closer. Try and have both toms striking spot (dead centre) in line with each other across the bass drum (else you'll be unbalanced by over reaching for tom 1 and then pulling back for tom 2).
Did you get it tuned in store or have you tuned it yourself?
I'd love to hear a sound check of it when you're able - I haven't heard an Imperialstar played yet!
Good work dude!

The badges on the tama are peeling? Are they metal plates or stickers?

Is the badge peeling or is there some protective film that is coming off.?

Do the cymbals sound better with or without the logo, and do they all have to face you?
And one more question...if your hitting youself in the face with a ball peen hammer, does it feel better when you stop?I need to know right away...think I'm starting to pass out

Inform your local dealer/tama and source a replacement badge. That is a manufacturers fault and will be rectified.

the badge im not a moron. i can live with it, its only the kick drum badge.
anyway to make the kick have more attack and less sustian? i already have dampening in it, and it is tuned as loose as possible.
also, rubber or felt pieces on the hi hat clutch? i have both right now, but one set has to go back with the blackhawk so im wondering if the rubber is better
thanks!

Try a 4" vent hole on your reso head (preferably with a Holz ring or kickport to protect the head from tearing).
Don't do what I did in my impressionable youth and put the hole in the centre of the head, though. It sounds fine in situ but it sounds awful when recording. Put it a few inches from the outside edge

true! i forgot about that, thanks a bunch. i see evans has a guide kit to make a lik 5" and the foam ring thing to put in it when cut out.
also any idea about the rubber vs felts that hold the top hi hat? the rubber will last forever, but it doesnt let the top cymbal move as much. is that ok for the cymbal? thanks

Felt all the way. You want your hats to move as freely as possible to enable sloshing - plus the more freely the cymbal moves the better the vibrations distribute... leading to longer life in your cymbals.

bmeat, come on man, pull yourself together.
I already told you to stop worrying about little things.
Look at the big picture.
The big picture is that you want to learn how to play the drums.
We are going to help you but you have to work with us.
Then just simply play the kit and learn.

Now that the "quick decision" has been made, perhaps this thread should be closed or at least left alone.
Any further questions have answers in the various sub forums or new questions can asked there if not.
Enjoy your new kit, bmeat, it looks nice.
