First drum lesson a success

Just returned from my first lesson. The instructor is great and seems to think I will do well. He says I have a natural grip and I guess that's a start. What I do have to work on is keeping that grip. We noticed that my wrists would begin to turn or flip as I played. I'm hoping lots of practice and just getting used to the feel of a correctly-held stick will help me improve on that.

From here on out it's just practice, practice, practice. Thanks to everyone for their great advice on helping me to get started!

That's great that it has turned into such a positive experience for you! Congrats! Now you just have to put in the time. I recall sitting in front of the tv for hours as a kid with sticks and a pad just drilling....
