Anyone every hear of the Gripstick. It's supposed to strengthen you for your technique.

I did a search on Art Verdi and found it, and that he endorses the product and claims it helped him.

Anyone use it? Is it worth getting or just some BS?

looks cool. i would like one for when i watch tv. but with hand exercise tools there are two things to consider. right muscle group and type (fast movement or strength movement) and does it actually help or hinder drumming.
consider also these two alternatives available...

Hey guys

I gotta ask you seriously - do you buy into this stuff?
I haven't tried it so i'm not saying it's bull, but it seems so bogus...
All these raving reviews from drummers, that I for one have never heard of.

It kind of reminds me of these infomercials for a "magic lotion" that makes
your entire kitchen shine in one go... and gets rid of your sore joints for you as well.

anyone trustworthy ever try the products we're discussing here?

'...and if you buy the isotonic gripstick now we will also include the poweball neon...but wait...that's not all....act now and we will throw in a second gripstick free...so the isotinics syestem, used by great drummers such as A N Other and meg white, can be yours for the incredible knocked down price of just 499.99$!!'

Just gripping a plain rubber ball is all you need
All these gagits are a waste

I think all the exercise you need is with your sticks... Besides, we are supposed to play using as less effort as possible. So I consider a smart practising is much better that wasting time with weird stuff.
Anyway... It is healthy to train the opposite muscles too. I mean, to get a good balance in your muscles, you should train the ones that do the opposite movement. Putting a rubber band around your fingers and pushing out with them might be a good thing. Any doctor to confirm that?

I have the Ballistic drums ISOtonic finger builder things and they are really no big deal. I did the program religously and did not notice any significant carry over into my everyday playing. It only works the fingers, no wrist action. The book did have a few cool stretches and warm-ups though.

Sometimes we try to blame our lack of technology instead of blaming our lazy practising. Just practise propperly and forget about TV miracles.

An old fashioned tennis ball or sponge ball is fine for me
I haven't worked out with these things for a while

I have this Isotonic System too. I dont now why i bought it, I tought i will become a great drummer in a week or two. Dumb me. I just had to bought it, couse if I wouldnt i'd never know. But Im telling you, if you wanna be a real drummer those two chopsticks will do nothing for you. Ok, maby I will change my mind in few weeks when those fast twitch muscels begin to grow, but I think that regular practice gives you more. For now I didnt feel any benefit and I have it for two weeks.

Oh and if anybody want those, dont buy them, these can be made at home in half an hour with very little costs. All you need is 2 old drumsticks, piece of garden hose and piece of rubber.

Have a nice time!
