Hey guys, i just finished a new cover well, more like a remake. I wanted to keep the 8th notes on the hi hat and try to be accurate. Please give me some feedback, good or bad its all welcome.

Great band!

Timing's mostly fine, but way too sterile. You're getting the groundwork down, & that's a good thing, but you really need to concentrate on putting in a performance. You're tickling those tubs. Is that because the backing track is so low in volume? Turn up the sounds, & crank up the vibe. Difficult to introduce a pleasing dynamic when everything is played at lowest possible level. Get a nice rimshot backbeat going & level the rest of your playing from that reference. Good luck with the neighbours!

Just for a change I'm gunna disagree with Andy. D2D, there's something oddly mesmerising about your covers :) You have a percussionist approach of playing clear, subtly shifting patterns that vary as the song progresses, something I aim to do.

I think I get what you're going for and IMO you're on the right track - focus on time and clarity. Keep at it and you will be the beautiful drummer that I never quite managed to be :)

I like clean, reserve & control, but without a dynamic performance in this genre, it gets boring. This is a rock cover, & rock tracks need to rock! Those drums need to open up, they're just not singing, especially lacking backbeat bite. I'd like to see D2 open up too!

BTW, disagreeing with you is such a pleasure!

I thought it was pretty cool.

I am sort of in between Polly and KIS now. I like the mesmerizing aspect of it, but I think if you went completely hog-wild on it, it would become a different song. It's not a really rockin' song. I've never heard the song before - but I'm guessing they did the original with a drum machine or something mechanical, yes?

So, perhaps it's time to get the neighbors to understand that a drummer lives next door, and that would be really cool. But if you really play out on it, the track really needs some dirty hairy guitar too. You could probably tune your drums wide open if you play that soft all the time, and that would also be a good thing.

I say good job!

LOL - you ain't the first here to have that pleasure :)

I feel differently ... I love all sorts of drumming but I have a soft spot for highly organised playing, put together with detachment and mathematical logic. The musical phrases are clear and make perfect sense with no hint of abstraction.
