So recently i have been trying to practice up to my usual speed of 110bpm with my fingers (i use the flying fingers technique or whatever its called). I usually get to speed after sometime practicing on more comfortable levels and stretching here and there. But lately i haven't been able to play up to speed with my left hand, after even an hour of practicing on the drum pad (mind you i make sure my hand is always relaxed and stretch whenever i feel tightness) i still cant get to speed. What confuses me is the fact that i have played at this speed multiple times in that past, comfortably, and up until recently i haven't been able to play past 100bpm with my left hand. Any suggestions as to what to do about this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Break it up a bit. Play some other rudiments...double strokes, all the diddles, phrase your singles as triplets, lead with your left hand....all of it will help with strength and endurance. No need to ignore your singles, but add some other exercises as well. If all you're doing is blasting single 16ths at 110, you may need to vary what your hands are doing in order to regain control and build endurance.

Build your wrists too. I've never understood why drummers seem to want to choose either fingers OR wrists.....when a combination of BOTH will broaden your options and just may give you that little kick you're searching for..

Yeah I think thats the problem, I dont usually practice anything other than singles, hopefully some more rudiments will help. Thanks!
