getting more into this drumming stuff, i'm finding i need more time to practice then what i can drive to the studio for. i'm debating on getting a second kit for my house and these 2 kits seem to get the best reviews but threw all the posts on here i can't seem to find a direct comparison between the 2.

i've got a 7 piece mapex saturn in the studio and i love that kit so i'm trying to find something relatively close to it as far as configuration which but also something a lot lower cost wise cuz frankly i can't afford anothr 6 g's to get an exact copy of the saturns. their both relatively the same price, same configurations not quite the exact sizes, both maple shells. i know they won't sound the same but for the most part their gonna be set up with mesh heads and possibly triggers ( yeah i know i mise well get an electric kit at that point but if i wanna piss off some neighbors i'd like to be able to put real heads on it and actually use it as an acoustic kit here and there possibly use it as a gigging kit if i ever decide to play drums in a band).

how do you all see them side by side as far as construction, hardware and quality? also if there is another kit that is equal to or out shines them in these areas, possibly ludwig elements?

and referring to the cost it was $2200 for the kit, another $1500 for the cymbals, $700 for stands, $700 for the pedals, $250 for the hi hat. 250 for the throne about $300 for new heads plus a few other things, so yeah roughly $6000 i spent on that kit, i'm sure many many many people have spent far more then i did, but that's ok........

There is a store on ebay selling 6pc Sonor sets for $650, i havn't played them but from what I've read them are near the top of intermediate sets. Gretsch also never gets a bad reviw so i dont see how you could go wrong with either, mapex's either. Hear what ones you like and go with them!

Okay... you weren't specific in your initial post. you were making it seem like you dropped 6k on the shelly alone!

Dale's Drum Shop has Sonors for $650. I don't know how you're going to "copy" what you have for entry level money. I really loved the sound of Ludwig's Elements, 6pc kit for $680.
