Over the summer I bought some evans heads. I didn't do any experimenting because I didnt have the money so I came here and asked what to buy. I don't know if my sound is... optimal... so Im here to ask for help. I mostly play metal with small bits of classic rock and hard-rock.

Toms: EC2s (not sst) over G1
Snare: Genera HD dry over Hazy 500
Kick: Stock heads; should I upgrade to aftermkt heads?

If you play any ghost notes ditch the thick reso head for a Hazy 300. As for the kick, go with an EQ3 over EQ3 or Retro Screen and use an EQ Pad if you want a bit of resonance or a Resonance Gate System pad if you want to adjust a bit between a bit and no resonance. Stock kick heads are usually not muffled enough, so a pre-muffled head like an EQ3 will allow you to use less pillows to retain a cotrolled sound, which will make the drum sound a lot better.

Like your combo but i would definitely change out your bass drum batter as soon as possible. Try and emad 1 or 2. If you have the cash change your bass drum reso as well.

EQ3 Batter with an EQ3 Reso for the bass would work nicely as would an EQ2 batter. I'm not a fan of the EMADs. I've got an EMAD2 now and it's a bit overkill on the dampening unless you tune it up and then, there goes the pitch as well.

Honestly, the EMAD would be a pretty good choice given you play mostly metal as it has that click sound to it.
