Heads for Mapex Pro-M-HELP!!!!!!

Hey guys;

THIS THREAD was about finding heads for my set, but i already got help for that. now i need help w/my snare, But insted of making a new thread, i figured id edit this one.

What would be a nice head for my snare-I like a pop with a LITTLE resonance. I dont like a snare thats a loud crack. It's nice for rockn roll, but I just like some personality in my snare. I need a head that can help me with this-batter and reso.

ALSO!! If you use a drum dial tuner, what are your numbers you tune your snare to?

Also, just to muck it up a bit. Have you considered the Remo Coated Smooth Emperors? They're punchy and warm. Probably sound really good with those maple shells.

Evans PC reverse dot is a great snare head. I have also heard good things about the EC snare but have never tried it.

I'll pile on too. I agree with most. The Evans G2 heads either clear or coated are my go to heads for toms. The Evans Power Center Reverse Dot is what's sitting on top of four of my five snares. It's a great head and does the trick for most genres I play. I do use an Evans EC for the batter head of my stainless snare and I also use an Evans G1 coated if I know that I'll be doing a lot of music where brushes are needed.

What about a reso for a snare? Remember, I'm really looking for a nice pop, yet still some light resonance to give it some feel.

I would use the standard 3 mil head, such as the Evans Hazy 300. The sound you want comes in the form of the batter head and the tuning the drum. It will be difficult to replicate the sound you hear on the video because of miking techniques and acoustics, but you should be able to get close.
