Hi guys, I'm somewhat new here. I been browsing around a lot and drooling over kits, but now I come for some recommendations.

About 6 or so months ago I decided I wanted to learn how to play the drums. I've always wanted to learn but never had the drive. Well I finally decided to do something about it. About two years prior to this my aunt had decided the same thing and she bought a used Yamaha DP kit. Well she has since given it up and she has given them to me.

When I first got them I went through and replaced all of the batter heads because they were severely worn. I ended up purchasing the Remo Black Suede Emperors for toms and the Black X for the snare. I got those put on and tuned up decently.

Well for the past 3 months they've been sitting at my parents house because I don't have room in my apartment with them. While I was home over break I decided to get them out and mess around. It was then that I noticed that the reso heads were in horrible condition and in dire need of replacement.

I'm looking for some recommendations for reso heads for the toms and snare. Something that will work well with the Emperors and will give me a nice fat sound. I play mostly rock and alternative.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the lengthy post.

My favorite resos: Evans G1 clear, (a 10 mil head) Evans GPlus clear (a 12 mil head, a little longer sustain than a 10 mil head)

Appreciate the suggestions Larryace. Anyone else have a recommendation?

Remo Ambassadors work well. If you like the black look, try Remo 'Ebony" Ambassadors. I have used both clear and ebony many many times. There is no difference in sound. Just appearance.

Remo also makes the black suedes in ambassador weight. You could try those as reso's , if you like the emperors on the batters.

Yeah... those too. I forgot about them.

Thanks for the advice fellas. I think I'm going to pick up some Ambassadors tomorrow and give them a shot unless you guys think there might be a better option available.

That's the most common way to go.
